I am planning a trip that I will be taking my young nieces and nephews on as well as the adults. I will be sure to not pack every day super full like we usually do on vacation.

Additionally, you could even look for merchandise that fits the theme of your trip to make the experience more immersive for your kids. You can always look for websites or blogs to get ideas that fit the theme for your family trip.

My first travel with my family was when my sister was 3 months, so it’s not really a problem to travel with kids 🙂

I’m prepping for our first international flights with a 2 and 5 year old, and the tips about attitude (we’d be parenting at home too, so we might as well be someplace amazing) are such wonderful reminders. My husband is really worried about the probable meltdowns, but it’s a great reminder to take it in stride. I will be prepping for implementing many of these tips immediately!

That’s great Chris! Just take everything in stride and don’t worry about the little things. We flew halfway around the world when Cole was 2 and he loved every minute of it. He especially loved that he had mom and dads undivided attention. 😉

In regards to electronics, definitely keep them for when things start to go a little sour. It’ll give you guys a well deserved break and will be a great treat for him being a such a little trooper. Have a great trip!

Great article, a lot of these tips will come in very handy with our two year old boy when we leave on Monday. We’ve got a bunch of little toys wrapped for the plane trip and we’ll have plenty of snacks as well. We’ve also got an iPad with his favourite cartoons downloaded, he’s obsessed with electronic equipment – iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc. We’ve also got a few Easter eggs ready to go for our neighbours to try and win them over before Jack has a moment!

Paige, we always have ziplocks with us when we travel as well. A few large and a few small. We use them for everything from snacks for the kids to protecting our phones from sand on the beach. They’re great for keeping open food safe from ants and storing wet clothes on the way home. Definitely a must bring item with kids. It’s also a great way to keep small toys like Legos or doll accessories together. They’re like mini toy boxes for on the road!

Thanks for sharing!

I love them all and can vouch for them all. I would add one: bring a ziplock bag or two with you to stash found treasures, wet clothes, or pieces of broken and beloved toys. I am never sorry I brought one when I remember to do so!
